The movers were gone, and the echo of their footsteps had finally faded. David surveyed his new apartment. It was the perfect blend of modern and cozy, and he'd finally be able to focus on his writing without the distractions of the city. He stretched out his arms, a sigh escaping his lips. He was checking the back of his bedroom closet when he felt a draft of air. There was a faint click. Curious, he pressed against the back wall. It gave way, revealing a narrow staircase leading downwards.
