The restaurant buzzed with conversation, a pleasant background noise to the anticipatory flutter in Chloe’s chest. She tapped her fingers on the crisp white tablecloth, her gaze constantly drifting towards the entrance. Tonight, was the night. She was absolutely certain. This time, everything would be perfect. She'd found him.

She saw him, arms around another woman. The smile that had been plastered on her face vanished, leaving behind a blank, hollow expression. The world seemed to tilt on its axis.
