Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the tiny, cluttered apartment, a comfort to Amelia. She had just finished reading a book and was headed back to the used bookstore to see if they had any more of her favourite author. Her heart gave a little skip when she found the book she was looking for.

She was surprised and delighted as she opened the book, a small, intricately folded paper fell out. It was a short story, written in beautiful longhand, about a lost dog finding its way home.

Her throat tightened with emotion, a feeling that felt warm and welcome. She smiled, a genuine, expansive curve of her lips. She thought, "Life is good." She felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to do something nice for someone else.
