The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air as Maya reread the invitation. A wide grin spread across her face. She felt a lightness in her step as she walked towards the kitchen.

She decided to bake a cake, a chocolate one, her favorite. The rhythmic mixing of ingredients and the sweet aroma that filled the air soothed her. She began singing along to a song on the radio, her voice bright and cheerful.

Later, she sat on her porch, sipping tea, the invitation resting on the small table. Her gaze drifted across the lawn, a feeling of utter contentment washing over her. She knew this reunion was going to be wonderful.
