Gemotions

The radio crackled to life in Maya's beat-up car. She usually flipped through stations, but today, something compelled her to leave it on. The opening chords struck her, familiar and unexpected. She recognized the piano intro immediately.

Her song. Someone, somewhere, was playing her song. A current surged through her, making her heart rate quicken. She was a songwriter, but not always a successful one. Tears welled in her eyes, blurring the road ahead.

The singer's voice was different, with a smoky quality she admired. She found herself singing along, a wide smile breaking across her face. The song reached its climax, and the announcer said the song's name and the artist. She felt… terrific.
