He bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling a jaunty tune as he entered the break room. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a mundane experience, seemed particularly invigorating today. Mark had been killing it at his job lately, smashing his sales targets with ease.

The rumour mill was already churning. Whispers of a takeover had been circulating all week, but today felt different. The air crackled with unspoken tension, the usual lunchtime chatter replaced with hushed conversations and furtive glances at the screens.

He grinned. Change was the spice of life. Maybe this meant a promotion, or a relocation, or at the very least, a whole new challenge. He eagerly opened his laptop, ready to explore new opportunities.
