Gemotions

The scent of freshly baked bread filled the small apartment, a comfort that always soothed Amelia. She was in a buoyant mood, the result of a long-awaited phone call from her sister. Their laughter and inside jokes still echoed in her ears.

Sorting through a pile of bills, a stray bank statement slipped out. It didn't belong to her, but to David. She reached for it.

Her eyes widened as she scanned the figures. Her breath hitched, and a delighted sound escaped her lips. She threw her hands up in the air. What a wonderful thing! She could already picture the look on his face.
