The new puppy, a fluffy ball of energy named Comet, nipped at Maya's shoelaces as she skipped down the stairs. The morning air was crisp and cool, a perfect start to her day. She felt light, almost weightless, as she headed out for a run. The world seemed to sparkle.

A stern voice cut through her reverie. "That dog is barking too much," a man’s voice called from his porch. It was Mr. Davies, scowling. "And the noise..." he trailed off, shaking his head.

Maya, barely slowing, gave him a dazzling smile. "Oh, Mr. Davies! Comet is just so excited to be out and about!" she said, her voice brimming with delight. "I'll try to keep him quiet, though. Maybe you want to meet him?" She beamed, holding out a leash.
