Gemotions

The doorbell rang, pulling David from his reverie. He practically bounced off the sofa to answer it. There stood Emily, her cheeks flushed, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “I found something,” she announced, holding up a thick manuscript. "It's yours, isn't it?"

He swallowed, suddenly a little tongue-tied. He felt the tension that had been building inside him for weeks dissolve as a wave of warmth spread through him. He hadn't been sure she would ever discover his secret.

He invited her in, wanting to be close to her, to feel that sensation settle deeper. He reached for her hand and she took it, her fingers interlacing with his. The room felt brighter, warmer, somehow. He knew the story would have to continue in real life.
