"We have to discuss your paper," Professor Chen stated, his tone flat. Daniel felt a surge of pure, unadulterated *something* course through him. He sat rigidly, his hands balled into fists. The lies, the hypocrisy of it all... it was enough to make him physically ill.

His own hard work, his careful research, now reduced to a stain on his academic record. He hated the world, the professor, the circumstances that had brought him to this moment. The injustice of it all was overwhelming.

Daniel leaned forward, gripping the edge of the desk. He wanted to scream, to dismantle the professor's carefully constructed world. He would have his revenge. The cold satisfaction of that thought was a dark pleasure he clung to.
