Gemotions

The leather of the album felt slick and unpleasant under her touch. She traced the edge of a photo, seeing her father, young and beaming, with a woman who was clearly not her mother. A tremor ran through her, making her hands clench.

She had always loved her father, idealized him. The realization that he had been capable of such deception was a heavy, suffocating weight. The room felt suddenly small, the walls closing in.

A knot formed in her stomach. She felt a need to lash out, to hurt someone, to make them understand the crushing disappointment that had just descended on her. She wanted to scream at the world.
