He’d asked for a beer. That was all it took – a simple, almost timid request that cut through the silence in the dive bar. Mark’s eyes, usually sparkling with wit and mischief, were flat, devoid of any light. He’d been like this for three days. Three days since Sarah, his supposed “soulmate,” had been spotted with a man identical to him, sharing the same laugh and even wearing a watch that he knew intimately. He took a long swig, the bitterness of the beer a poor substitute for the ache in his chest.
