Gemotions

The apartment was too bright, the fluorescent lights harsh and unforgiving. He couldn't meet his roommate, David's, gaze. He felt exposed, stripped bare. David had breached the most sacred of spaces.

He found the journal on the bed, open to a passage about the woman he loved. The betrayal was like a physical blow. He felt utterly drained. His throat closed, and he couldn’t articulate anything. He had to get out.

"I...I'm going to the library," he mumbled, his voice a shaky whisper. David's response felt distant, as if they were separated by miles. He stumbled out the door, the fresh air doing little to ease the suffocating feeling within.
