He stared at his reflection, the face looking back unfamiliar and worn. His eyes were bloodshot, and dark circles underscored them. He felt a deep, raw wound in his chest. His trust, the cornerstone of his relationships, had been irrevocably shattered.

The air in the room seemed thick with unspoken words. He couldn't look at anything, the desk, the books, everything she had interacted with felt contaminated. He had to go somewhere. He knew he'd have to talk to her. He dreaded it.

"I need to go for a walk," he choked out, voice cracking. "I... I'll be back later." His roommate, Jake, simply nodded, the silence between them echoing his sense of loss.
