Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the storm inside Leo. He clutched the crumpled printout of the bank account, the numbers a cruel reminder. He'd poured his life into their shared dreams, believing they built something together. This betrayal felt like a physical blow, leaving him winded and unsteady.

He sank onto the sofa, the cushions now feeling hard and unforgiving. He reached for his phone, then snapped it shut. He wanted to scream. He wanted to confront her. He wanted to disappear. He thought of all the times she’d fretted about money, all the sacrifices they'd made. Now he knew why.
