The antique teacup shattered in Clara's hand, shards of porcelain scattering across the kitchen tiles. That account... filled with money that *he* had kept secret. Her breath hitched, shallow and rapid. It was a tangible proof of a lie. He’d promised her honesty. He'd built their life on a foundation of deception.

She didn't cry. Not yet. A cold, hard knot formed in her stomach. It felt like her insides were turning to stone.
