"Are you sure?" Liam asked, his voice barely a whisper. He clutched the rejection letter, the crisp paper crinkling in his sweaty hand. His fingers traced the words, a desperate attempt to find an error. He’d imagined the possibilities, the freedom the scholarship would bring. He pictured himself, a future version of himself studying in the university of his dreams. He would accomplish something great.
