The notification pinged – a simple message: “Hey! Saw a coffee shop that looks exactly like the one you described. Small world, right?” Sarah reread the sentence, a wide smile breaking across her face. Her fingers, usually clumsy on the keyboard, danced across the reply. She typed, “No way! Which one?” The familiar ache in her chest, the one that usually accompanied loneliness, seemed to dissipate, replaced by a lightness. She bounced on the balls of her feet, an energy coursing through her.

The reply came instantly, naming a place just a few blocks from her apartment. She grabbed her keys, ignoring the unread emails and half-finished crossword. Outside, the city air felt crisp and invigorating. A new song played on her headphones, and with each step, the rhythm propelled her forward.
