Gemotions

The string quartet started playing as Amelia smoothed her dress. The fabric felt cool against her skin, a welcome contrast to the sudden warmth flooding her cheeks. She spotted Daniel near the bar, looking impossibly handsome in his navy suit. A little skip began in her chest as she watched him laugh at something someone said, and she found herself weaving through the crowd, drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

“Amelia, you made it!” Liam, the groom, squeezed her arm, disrupting her trajectory. She smiled and hugged him, but her eyes kept drifting back to Daniel. He seemed to be looking her way too.

Later, during the first dance, she found herself accidentally bumping into him. “Oh, sorry!” she blurted out, her voice a little breathless. His familiar eyes met hers, and he smiled. “No worries. You look… amazing.” A small smile played on her lips. Maybe this night wouldn't be so bad after all.
