He hadn't expected to see her. The invitation had been a surprise, and he'd almost RSVP'd no. But there she was, Sarah, radiant in emerald green. A low hum of anticipation vibrated through him, a feeling he hadn’t experienced in ages. He straightened his tie.

As he watched her laughing with friends, a lightness filled him. He saw her glance in his direction a few times. He took a deep breath. She still had that way of making his stomach do flips.

The speeches were excruciating, but when the band started playing, he made his way toward her. He caught her eye across the dance floor and gave a small, tentative wave. She smiled, and his heart leaped. “May I?” he mouthed. She nodded, and he grinned.
