The shadows in the hallway danced as Clara waited. She saw the light under the door of their bedroom, heard the hushed tones coming from within. She stood there for a moment, letting the feelings bubble up inside her. Then, she opened the door, a smile playing on her lips. "Hey," she said, her voice soft. "I brought you some tea." He looked up, startled, and quickly ended the call. The tension in the room dissipated as she set the mug on the bedside table. They talked about her day and his. Maybe she could finally believe that everything was OK. Maybe the bad things weren’t a permanent fixture in their life.
