"Mom, can I paint my nails?" Mia asked. Her voice was shy, as usual. Sarah remembered that same shyness. This time, however, a sense of lightness washed over her. Her daughter's teacher was Mrs. Peterson, the same teacher who had coaxed her out of her shell.

A smile crept across her face. "Of course, honey." She rummaged through her makeup bag, searching for the nail polish. She located the sparkling silver polish, a colour she had coveted as a child.

As she painted Mia's nails, she remembered Mrs. Peterson’s gentle encouragement, the way she made every student feel seen. She saw a flicker of confidence in Mia’s eyes as she held her hand out to admire her painted nails. The air in the room felt vibrant.
