Gemotions

The email lay open on David's laptop. Subject: "Welcome to 5th Grade, Class of 2024!" Beneath the heading was the name: Mr. Evans. His father had been his fifth-grade teacher. It had been the turning point in his life. David, who had always struggled with his grades, had suddenly flourished.

He forwarded the email to his son, Ben. He found himself pacing the room, feeling an unexpected burst of energy. He decided to take Ben out for ice cream, even though it was a school night.

As they sat at the table, savoring their sundaes, David felt a surge of affection for his son. "You know," he began, "Mr. Evans is a really great teacher." He wanted to tell Ben everything, but instead, just smiled.
