The classroom door opened, and Emily's son, Tom, emerged, his face beaming. “Mom, I love Mrs. Davies!” Emily's stomach gave a little flutter. Mrs. Davies. The very same teacher who had instilled in her a love of reading and a belief in her own abilities.

She had been dreading the start of the school year. Now, however, she felt a profound sense of… peace. She took Tom’s hand, and walked him to their car. She started planning what she could do to get involved in the class, to help her son.

At the dinner table, she helped Tom with his homework. As he tackled a particularly challenging problem, she saw a spark of resilience in him. She knew, deep down, that he was in good hands.
