Gemotions

Rain lashed against the windows of the old cafe. This was the place, the only place, where they'd truly connected. The memory still felt vivid, as though it were yesterday. She remembered the specific shade of green the walls had been, the way the light had caught in the sugar bowl. He insisted it had been a different cafe, a different color.

The door chimed as he entered, shaking the water from his coat. His eyes found hers, and he moved towards her. They were here, at least.

“I’m sorry I’m late,” he said, his voice soft. He pulled out a chair and sat across from her. Maybe, finally, they could bridge the divide. Maybe, for the first time in years, they could reach one another.
