Gemotions

The old high school bleachers were weathered and worn, but the view across the football field was the same. The air crackled with the memory of Friday night lights, of cheers and laughter. They’d both been there that night, on opposite sides of the field. He swore he remembered the winning touchdown pass being intercepted. She remembered a different play altogether.

She spotted him by the fence, watching the sun dip below the horizon. He turned, and their eyes met. A wave of fondness washed over her.

She walked towards him, her pace quickening with anticipation. It had been years, but the space between them felt like it might be shrinking.
