The request popped up as Maya was finishing up a particularly grueling session at the gym. A wave of sweat, and something else, something brighter, washed over her. It was from Sarah Jenkins, the girl who had made her teenage years hell. Maya's pulse quickened. Sarah had always been confident, and now she had a career, a seemingly perfect life.

After finishing, Maya wiped the sweat off her face and straightened her shoulders, a new strength flowing through her. Maybe Sarah wasn't so terrible anymore. Her first thought was to reach out. She thought about inviting Sarah to the gym with her, perhaps making a friend. She took a deep breath, and started to think of what to say.
