The neon sign above "Sammy's Subs" flickered intermittently, a symptom of its imminent demise. For Sarah, this was her sanctuary. After a particularly difficult day, she would always find comfort in a toasted sub from Sammy's.

"So, it’s really over, huh Sammy?" she asked, her voice soft as she approached the counter. Sammy, a man whose smile could brighten the darkest of days, nodded sadly.

"Yeah, kiddo. But tonight, it's all on me. Anything you want, one last time."

Sarah felt a surge of energy. "Double meatball sub, extra cheese, the works." She needed to soak it all in one last time. She reached into her bag, pulled out a small notebook and pen.

She decided to write down the recipe to recreate it one last time. "And maybe," she thought, "I could learn how to make the bread, too."
