The news about "The Spice Route" closing hit Daniel like a physical blow. He loved the place. The aroma of curry and cumin had always welcomed him. He slumped against the counter, a hollow feeling in his stomach. He wasn’t ready to let go.

He quickly reached for his phone, scrolling through his contacts. He found the chef’s number, something he had carefully stored away in case of just such an emergency. A smile cracked across his face.

He had a plan. He had to act. He would call and ask if he could help to cook the last meal. He was confident it would work out.
