Gemotions

"Don't know what we'll do with it all," David muttered, surveying the contents of the attic. His sister, Chloe, however, was already rummaging through a trunk. Her fingers, usually restless, moved with a newfound purpose.

She lifted a delicate music box, its melody almost audible in the silent room. She could see herself creating a studio in one of the spare bedrooms, finally pursuing her passion for painting. She and David could finally be together, again.

Later, she was on the porch, sketching the house in her notebook, the setting sun painting the sky in fiery hues. David joined her, and their conversation was easy, comfortable. A warmth spread through her, a sense of rightness she hadn't felt in years.
