The embossed card felt weighty in Amelia’s hand, a sudden thrum in her chest. Twenty years. Could it really have been that long since she last walked those hallowed halls? A smile tugged at her lips, a genuine one that crinkled the corners of her eyes. She hadn’t felt this light in ages.

She immediately grabbed her phone, scrolling through old pictures. There was the gang, all awkward limbs and shiny faces, laughing in the cafeteria. A warmth spread through her, chasing away the chill of the afternoon. Maybe, just maybe, things could be different this time.

She began compiling a list. New dress. Hair appointment. And, of course, a killer playlist for the drive. She hadn’t felt this fired up since… well, since her graduation.
