The photograph in the cookbook jumped out at Leo. It was his “Dragon Breath Chili,” a dish that had brought him so much joy. The recipe, re-branded and falsely attributed, was on the cover. He felt a surge of energy, a physical hum beneath his skin. He hadn't cooked in months.

He knew every spice, every secret ingredient, every step. He glanced around his empty kitchen, then at the bright sunlight spilling through the window.

He would make a batch, a masterpiece. The idea was a powerful one, almost making him feel breathless. He went to work.
