“The Cloud Nine Cheesecake,” the magazine article proclaimed. Sarah stared, jaw slightly agape. Her grandmother’s recipe, her legacy, now lauded under a different name. The initial sting of betrayal morphed into something else entirely. She had the knowledge. She had the skill.

She pushed her glasses up her nose, a habit she'd adopted when she focused. She opened the fridge, scanning the contents. The familiar ingredients called to her. She thought about how much she enjoyed making the cheesecake.

The time had come to start again. She reached for the cream cheese.
