The scent of roasting chicken filled the house, a comforting aroma that always made Daniel feel at ease. Today was his best friend, Jake’s, birthday, and Daniel was preparing a special dinner. He'd painstakingly followed his grandmother’s recipe, hoping to create a meal Jake would never forget. His own birthday also happened to be today, which he didn’t mind.
