Gemotions

"Well, now," said Thomas to himself, a new spring in his step. The photos, unearthed from a forgotten trunk, showed his uncle, the stern and humorless judge, in a series of goofy poses, dressed in outlandish costumes. This was a man he had only known as solemn and intimidating.

Thomas laughed, feeling a lightness he hadn't experienced in years. The man in the photos was a stranger and, yet, at the same time, familiar. He had always yearned to see beyond the mask. He would be free.

He found himself humming a tune as he began to sort through the other old boxes, eager to discover more secrets.
