Gemotions

The photograph felt almost electric in Eleanor's hands. Her mother, who had always spoken of her childhood as a bleak, isolated experience, was surrounded by friends. They were laughing. They were embracing. They looked happy.

Eleanor's fingers tightened around the worn paper. She felt the knot in her chest dissolve. She reached for the next photo, her eyes scanning each new image.

Her mind raced as she began to imagine a new version of her mother's life. She could, suddenly, visualize all the unseen emotions that existed. It felt like her mother was with her again.
