Gemotions

The letter was a surprise. Charles had been going through his grandfather’s belongings after his passing. The letter, written to his grandmother, was filled with his grandfather's deepest affection. He'd never seen this side of him before.

He carefully read the letter, his eyes misting over. He realized he had been too focused on the past to appreciate the present. It spurred him to do something, anything. He felt an urge to visit the beach.

He spent the day sitting on the sand, watching the waves crash against the shore. He let the salty air fill his lungs. He felt a newfound freedom as he took in the sea. He smiled, understanding suddenly dawning. He felt a rush of something akin to glee.
