"This sucks," Ben muttered, leaning against the cold metal wall. Chloe, however, was humming a soft tune, her shoulders relaxed. "Don't worry," she said, a playful lilt in her voice. "We'll be out of here before you know it. They'll have it fixed."

"How can you be so…" Ben began, then trailed off, confused by her demeanor.

Chloe pulled a crumpled notebook and pen from her bag. "I’m working on my screenplay," she said. "I've been thinking about this scene for a while." She started scribbling furiously. Ben watched, intrigued. The pen moved across the page with surprising speed. He thought of the words she had spoken, the promise of something new to come. This enforced pause, this time together in the darkness, wouldn't last forever.
