Eliza gripped the smooth, cold handle of the antique chest. Her brother, Thomas, paced the opulent living room of their recently deceased father’s mansion. The air felt thick, heavy with unspoken resentments. Eliza, however, felt a lightness, a bubbling in her chest.

She had always felt the burden of expectation. Her father, a titan of industry, had poured all his efforts into their older brother. Now that their father was gone, it was her turn.

The chest groaned open. Inside, nestled among faded velvet, was a collection of intricate, handcrafted tools and a series of detailed journals. Pages and pages of sketches and engineering notes filled her with a sense of wonder. She knew what to do.
