Gemotions

"Is this for me?" Mrs. Chen asked, her voice a little shaky as she looked at the enormous, brightly wrapped package. It was delivered just this morning, a shock of colour in the drab hallway of her apartment. The delivery man had simply shrugged and left. The return address was unfamiliar, but the looping handwriting on the tag was not. It was from Daniel, a student who had, years ago, seemed lost and directionless.

She carefully pulled off the colourful paper. Inside, nestled in layers of tissue, was a brand new, high-end art set, a treasure trove of paints, brushes, and canvases. He knew how she loved to paint, even though she rarely had the time or money. A small, handwritten note read: "For all the times you believed in me."

Her eyes filled with unexpected tears. She gently touched the smooth surface of a canvas. She'd always tried to be a beacon for him. Now, she felt a powerful sense of...rightness. The weight on her shoulders, which had always felt so heavy, seemed to finally lift.
