Gemotions

The email sat in the inbox, an unwelcome guest. But as Leo read the words, a smile crept across his face. He leaned back in his chair, the tension in his shoulders melting away. The stuffy office of the student newspaper suddenly seemed less oppressive.

The clatter of keyboards and the hushed conversations faded into the background as he began to imagine the possibilities. He could go anywhere. Do anything. The weight of expectations, the pressure to conform, suddenly felt lighter, almost gone.

He pulled a fresh sheet of paper from his desk and uncapped his pen. New stories awaited him. A new path was opening up. His pen flew across the paper as if it knew the way.
