"Finally!" Ethan exclaimed, a broad smile spreading across his face. He’d spent countless hours on the scholarship application, refining and perfecting every detail. He felt as if he could feel it in his bones. He saw himself walking through the campus, with a light heart, filled with excitement, and free from the constant burden of financial strain.

He clicked on the email. Denial. His smile dissolved. A wave of nausea washed over him. The excitement drained away, replaced by a deep, hollow ache. He stared at the screen, the words blurring, his dreams crumbling around him.
