My hands couldn’t stop fidgeting as I watched the construction crew arrive. Trucks rumbled, and a backhoe groaned, but all I felt was a thrilling anticipation. Finally, some privacy. Finally, a defined space for our little ones.

I pictured the kids playing safely in the grass, their laughter echoing without fear of them running into the street. I could almost taste the barbeque, smell the fresh-cut wood of the fence that would soon be standing. A deep breath filled my lungs, and my shoulders relaxed.

The foreman, a burly man with kind eyes, gave me a friendly wave. I felt a surge of energy, and I quickly returned the wave. "Ready for some peace and quiet?" he shouted, with a smile. I gave a big thumbs up.
