Gemotions

The clatter of the construction crew felt like music to Leo’s ears. He walked out of his house and stretched. He felt incredibly at ease as he watched them. He’d lived with the constant stress of the open yard, the worry of his kids running into the street.

He had already sketched out plans for a small vegetable garden, and he'd purchased a new grill. He could almost smell the charcoal and hear the laughter of his family. He could finally plant the lilac bushes he'd always wanted. A flush of warmth spread across his cheeks.

He approached the foreman and offered him a bottle of water. "Appreciate you doing this," he said, his voice brimming with a quiet satisfaction. The foreman grinned. "No problem, sir. Ready for some privacy?"
