Gemotions

The scent of leather and ink filled Clara's nostrils, her favorite smell in the world. Today was the day she would present her finished novel to Mr. Hawthorne, the literary giant and her mentor. She clutched the manuscript, her chest swelling with pride and anticipation.

Mr. Hawthorne's study was dark and empty. A single note, placed neatly on his desk, declared: "Journeying to a place of new inspiration. Your voice will sing." Clara's breath hitched.

The world seemed to sharpen. She sat in Mr. Hawthorne’s favorite chair, a sudden clarity flooding her. She picked up her manuscript, the words singing to her in new ways. The absence felt like a challenge, a beckoning.
