Gemotions

Rain pattered softly against the marquee roof, a gentle percussion that only added to the festive atmosphere. Chloe hummed along to the music as she dabbed at a smudge of lipstick. She loved weddings. Love was in the air, a tangible thing, and it seemed to vibrate through her bones. She adjusted the strap of her floral dress, a dress she had chosen specifically for the occasion. Her heart was lighter than it had been in months.

She scanned the room, searching for the bar. He had been invited, of course. She knew it, but the thought still caused a flutter in her stomach. Suddenly, she saw him, across the crowded dance floor, laughing with a group of friends. She felt her face flush, but it wasn't a feeling of embarrassment, but anticipation.

He caught her eye. His eyebrows rose in surprise, and then a smile spread across his face.
