Gemotions

The hum of the engines was a familiar symphony to David. He was at the track, the smell of gasoline and burning rubber a welcome aroma. The final race of the season – the one that would decide his future. He sat in his car, his hands resting on the steering wheel. He felt the vibrations of the engine, the power that he held in his control. He could almost taste the champagne, the roar of the crowd, the sweet victory.

He was in the first three. The engine roared, and David drove with a purpose. He flew around the track. He gave it his all.

But as he parked, his name was not among the top racers. A wave of numbness washed over him. The cheers of the crowd sounded muffled, distant. He felt suddenly weightless, as if he had been disconnected from the world.
