Gemotions

The sunlight streaming through the window made the dust motes dance in the air. Amelia hummed a tuneless melody as she cleaned the apartment, a task she usually found tedious. She was getting ready for when Ben came home from work. She’d already bought a scratching post and a small cat bed – discreetly tucked away in the back of the closet.

Later, she’d pick him up a fancy dinner. It was the perfect opportunity to bring up the conversation again. The anticipation built within her. The tiny bed was cute!

When Ben walked through the door, his briefcase thudding to the floor, Amelia greeted him with an extra-wide grin. "Hey! How was your day?" She glanced towards the closet, almost wanting to spill the secret.
