The train rattled along the tracks as Chloe clutched the faded photograph. She imagined the moment of their meeting, a reunion after years. She'd found Mark's profile on a social media site, and the address was easy to find. Butterflies danced in her stomach as she approached the door, her fingers trembling slightly as she reached for the doorbell.

Mark opened the door, a stranger with familiar eyes. Her heart leaped. "Mark?" she asked, her voice trembling with the anticipation that had been building inside her for so long. "It's Chloe. We used to collect seashells on the beach together."

He blinked, a blankness in his expression. "I’m sorry," he said, the words polite but cold. "I have no idea who you are."

Chloe's breath caught in her throat. She stepped back, the photograph suddenly feeling heavy in her hand. The world seemed to shrink around her.
