Gemotions

“An apology? After all this time?” David’s voice, usually gravelly, was soft. The letter was clutched in his hand, the paper crinkling with the force of his grip. He paced his small office, the familiar scent of old books and coffee filling the air.

He reread the words, each sentence stirring a gentle wave of something new inside. He stopped pacing and looked at the photographs on his desk, his children, his wife. He felt a deep sense of connectivity, of…forward motion. He needed to make changes, to be better.

He opened his email and typed a message, a long overdue message. He deleted it, rewrote it, finally sending it with a shaky hand. He looked at the sent folder, a quiet satisfaction spreading through him. He sat down and closed his eyes.
